ABOUT THE Bagot Goat

The Bagot Goat is a small and rare British breed known for its distinct appearance. It is characterized by a black head and neck extending to the withers/girth, while the rest of the body is predominantly white.

This parkland breed is visually striking and possesses the ability to forage effectively in rough scrubland. It has become a popular choice for Farm Parks and country estates, gaining recognition for its usefulness in conservation grazing schemes.

Bagot goats are categorized as small to medium-sized, and both males and females have curving horns. They feature long hair, and their distinctive colour pattern consists of black forequarters and white on the rear part of the body. Some individuals may also have a white blaze on their faces.

Did you know

First account of the breed is of a herd at the Blithfield Estate in Staffordshire owned by St John Bagot in 1389.
