ABOUT THE Red-Footed Tortoise
These tortoises possess a textured, concave shell that typically showcases shades of black, grey, or brown. Their skin coloration is predominantly black.
Juvenile tortoises exhibit small, distinctive patches of yellow or tan that surround or cover the bumps on their shell.
When in a state of rest, Red-footed tortoises display remarkable stillness, hardly making any movement. They even allow leaf litter to accumulate on their bodies, sometimes becoming host to termite tunnels that form on the carapaces of these resting tortoises.
Did you know
In addition to fruit and flowers, they also eat soil, sand, fungi and carrion (dead meat)
