New invertebrate enclosure in the Tropical House

The Tropical House has reopened and with an amazing new invertebrate enclosure created by our ranger Tamzin.

The new enclosure is home to Sun Beetles & African Train Millipedes. Tasmin told us:

“Not only is the enclosure taller than me but the substrate is a little under half it’s amazing height. It will allow a huge space allowance for our beetle grubs to thrive in, including a few rotten wood structures inside that substrate.

Above the enclosure there is also wobbly and hanging branches to allow for some natural movement. Plus we have added a magnifying glass over the area where the beetles like to chow down for dinner so that visitors (big and small) can get up close and personal with some of my favourite creatures.

The plants have a way to grow yet, but watch this space for some invertebrate adventures.”
