Golden guernsey goat kids

Here’s looking at you, kid.

On Thursday our team were delighted to welcome Golden Guernsey twins into the world. Further excitement was had when we found out we had a boy and a girl!

Golden Guernseys are classed as at risk by the Rare Breed Survival Trust, of which Jimmy is Vice-President, and we’re proud to be growing the population of this lovely breed.

Interesting fact about this breed – it was nearly wiped out in the Second World War. When German forces occupied Guernsey they ran out of food and turned to eating any and all of the livestock on the island. One incredible woman, Miriam Milbourne, secretly hid a small group of goats from the Germans and set up a breeding programme once the war was over.
