Celebrating Conservation at the Heart of Parliament

Stevie Sheppard, Jimmy Doherty and Gemma Marriage attended the Great British Wildlife Restoration event put on by British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 21st January 2025, hosted by Mr Speaker. The team enjoyed joining fellow nominees to celebrate the power of wildlife restoration and one of our charity partners: Nature’s SAFE.

We were thrilled that our Suffolk Birds Conservation Project was shortlisted as one of 23 incredible initiatives working to restore and protect native species across the UK.

Working closely with the Suffolk Bird Group, we’ve focused on creating nesting sites and suitable habitats for Suffolk’s birdlife. A highlight of our efforts has been the restoration of sand bank nesting sites for native sand martins – a habitat that had been in decline. Thanks to our team’s hard work (and some heavy machinery!), we saw a huge increase to 30 nesting holes in Summer 2024. A fantastic result for these incredible birds!
